Formal education institutions have been disrupted the world-over by COVID-19. K-12 education has been especially hard hit, but higher education has not been immune either. Even under normal circumstances, equity and access to quality education is a challenge. A parent’s ability to help their child is predetermined by access to data, technology, and know-how. As educators and parents scramble to figure out how to continue educating their children during stay-at-home orders, we've seen heroic efforts by education systems of all kinds to ensure that children and their families are safe, fed, and learning. For example, South Africa moved educational resources and lessons to radio and television, which is accessible to more families than computers or reliable internet. What creative ways can we engage children at home, regardless of their socioeconomic background?
While we have been forced to adapt, create, or compile resources to make remote learning immediately possible, we also need to examine how we might prepare for this “New Normal” for a longer term. How might we create systems and processes that ensure a consistent availability of real resources and ideas in the education system? If something like this pandemic happens again, what will be our contingency plans and resources? How might we ensure continued learning even for some of our most marginalized communities? Perhaps these ideas will trigger a macro shift in how we support remote, rural and specialized cases of educating our students.

The aim is to provide an avenue where thought leaders in the community can connect and serve as mentors to others in the greater blockchain community as they build applications.
